Menashe Amir, born on December 27, 1939, in Tehran, Iran, is a distinguished Iranian-Israeli journalist and broadcaster celebrated for his influential Persian-language radio program on Israel Radio International, part of Kol Yisrael. Starting his journalism career at 17 with Tehran’s Kayhan newspaper, he moved to Israel in 1959 and rose to prominence as a leading voice in Persian media, serving as head of the Israel Broadcasting Authority’s Persian language division and chief editor of the Foreign Ministry’s Persian website. His daily 1.5-hour radio show, broadcast to Iran via shortwave, attracted millions of listeners by 2003, offering engaging political discussions and music, making it a vital platform for connecting with Iranian audiences. Amir’s insightful coverage of major events, such as the 1979 Iran hostage crisis, and his deep expertise in Iranian affairs have established him as a pivotal figure in promoting cross-cultural dialogue.
