Jamshid Chalangi is an Iranian-American journalist, author, and media personality known for his work in Persian-language broadcasting. He began his career in 1967 with the Iranian newspaper Khorshid, later contributing to Tamasha magazine and the National Iranian Radio and Television. Following the 1979 Iranian Revolution, Chalangi co-founded the independent newspaper Bamdad, which was eventually shut down by the new regime. After relocating to Cairo in 1984, he reported extensively across the Middle East and collaborated with outlets like Deutsche Welle and the Voice of America (VOA). At VOA, he hosted the popular Persian-language program Tafsir Khabar (News Talk) from 2006 until his departure in 2012. Chalangi has been a vocal critic of VOA’s programming, arguing that it increasingly aligned with Iranian regime narratives, particularly during the Obama administration. His critiques have sparked significant debate within the Iranian diaspora and among media watchdogs.
