About Shahram Homayoun
Shahram Homayoun is known as an Iranian political dissident, media commentator, and founder of Channel One, a Persian-language television network based in Los Angeles, California. The network broadcasts daily programming to audiences inside Iran and to viewers around the world who follow Iranian political news and social developments.
Homayoun left Iran for the United States in 1991. Before leaving the country, he worked in several well-known Iranian publications, including serving as Editor of Hamkari Magazine for two years, Editor of Kargaran Magazine for three years, and Assistant Editor of the daily newspaper Bamdad. During this period, he conducted interviews with a range of well-known political and religious figures.
Media Work in the United States
After relocating to Los Angeles, Homayoun established a Persian-language satellite television network that later became known as Channel One. The network broadcasts 24 hours a day and covers political news, commentary, and social programs with a special focus on Iran-related issues.
Ma Hastim Movement
Homayoun is also associated with the Ma Hastim (We Exist) movement, which aims to highlight political and human-rights issues connected to Iran. According to various observers, this movement has gained attention among Iranian audiences inside and outside the country. Notable public demonstrations took place during the 2009 Green Movement, when Homayoun and others helped organize gatherings in Los Angeles and shared information with international media outlets.
Public Activities
In recent years, the Ma Hastim movement and its supporters created a symbolic memorial site in New York City honoring individuals who lost their lives during political events in Iran since 2009. Homayoun has also spoken publicly about Iranian national identity and historical symbols, including the traditional “Lion and Sun” emblem, which remains an important cultural reference for some Iranians.
