Shahram Homayoun is an Iranian political activist and the founder of Channel One TV, a Persian-language satellite network based in Los Angeles that broadcasts daily into Iran. His notable interviews featured figures such as Sadegh Ghotbzadeh, Sadegh Khalkhali, Ahmad Khomeini, Ayatollah Shariatmadari, Ayatollah Sadegh Rohani, Yasser Arafat, and Pakistan’s General Zia ul-Haq. Homayoun established Channel One to provide uncensored news and political commentary to Iranian audiences, countering state-controlled media narratives. He also initiated the “Ma Hastim” (We Exist) movement, which gained significant traction during the 2009 Green Movement protests in Iran, with supporters displaying slogans on city walls. The movement later erected a memorial in New York City honoring Iranian dissidents and activists who have been killed by the Iranian regime since 2009. A staunch advocate for Iranian nationalism, Homayoun has been instrumental in promoting the historical “Lion and Sun” emblem as a symbol of resistance against the Islamic Republic.
